Binders for SFX Products

Binders will enable you to get the best out of SFXC's inks and pigments…choose the right product for your project!

On this page you can find screen printing binders that help our products adhere properly to your chosen substrate, materials or surface; for example, fabric and textiles. They are ready to use with specific products, such as metallic or pearlescent pigments. We stock a generic binder as well as a sprayable lacquer, which can be used with our thermochromic inks on ceramic, metal and wood. In addition, it can be used by itself, as a protective topcoat on the surface you are working on. For our silver and gold leaf sheets, we have gilding paste.

SFXC binders are transparent and can be used with our pigments to help them shine. Unlike many glitter binders on the market, SFXC glitter binder does not tarnish the sheen of the particles.

When screen printing with our binders, use a medium shore rectangular squeegee for the best coverage, and ensure the screen has the right mesh count for the product being used.

Our metallic binder should not be combined with mediums that have a particle size greater than 60um. Otherwise, during screen printing the screen will become blocked.

SFXC soft-base binder is ideal when screen printing onto white or pale fabric, to bring out a colours’ vibrancy. Remember to cure the fabric once finished. This way it will have excellent wash-fastness.

When combining pigments or ink to a binder, and you want a lighter shade to what you have currently, do not any more binder. Instead, use a new batch of binder and add small amounts of ink or pigment until you are happy with the colour.

Our water-based binders are durable and free from solvents. Clean up is simple- just use hot, soapy water.
