Description

Discover the captivating world of thermochromic ink, a unique formulation that transforms ordinary surfaces into interactive experiences. Our high-performance ink, meticulously engineered for vibrant colour shifts and seamless application, empowers you to create designs that react to temperature changes.

Witness the Transformation

At about 27°C (81°F), above normal room temperature, this remarkable ink undergoes a dramatic shift. It stays a deep, opaque black in cooler conditions, then fades to translucent when warmed by a touch, revealing any hidden design beneath. This captivating effect is reversible, allowing for endless cycles of reveal and conceal.

Achieve Outstanding Results

Our thermochromic ink is a two-part system, consisting of a pigment-rich slurry and a specialised binder. For optimal performance, mix these components in a 50/50 ratio before use. The binder is crucial for strong adhesion and prevents the ink from flaking or rubbing off.

To achieve the most vibrant colour change, apply 2–3 thin, even coats using screen printing for professional results. A foam roller can be used for smaller projects or simpler designs.

Important Considerations

  • Surface Preparation: Ensure your surface is clean, dry, and free from any contaminants before applying the ink.
  • Avoid Brush Application: Using a brush can lead to uneven application and affect the clarity of the colour change.
  • Individual Colour Use: Each thermochromic ink colour is designed to be used independently. Mixing or layering colours may impact the performance and vibrancy of the colour shift.
  • Drying: Keep heat low and short. Stay below 180°C, as briefly as possible, and avoid prolonged heat above 75°C. Brief heat at 100°C for 1–2 minutes is fine.

Explore the Creative Possibilities

This versatile ink opens up a world of creative applications, particularly for interactive "touch and reveal" effects:

  • Hidden Messages: Conceal secret messages, surprise graphics, or promotional codes that magically appear with a touch of warmth.
  • Dynamic Artwork: Create artwork that responds to changes in temperature, adding an engaging dimension to your designs.
  • Novelty Products: Cards and promotional items with designs that appear at a touch.
  • Interactive Textiles: Incorporate thermochromic elements into garments and accessories for eye-catching designs that react to body heat.
  • Engaging Packaging: Enhance packaging with hidden designs that appear when touched.
