INFORMATION

As opposed to conventional pigments, photo luminescent fillers produce actual light instead of reflecting it. As they absorb radiant energy from sunlight or artificial lighting, they convert it into longer wavelengths in the visible spectrum, which they emit as light.

As well as being used for its aesthetics, photo luminescent powder provides a source of Eco-lighting, which can be used to highlight danger or direction in dark areas. Energy is absorbed from a UV light source and is stored within the material, which is then slowly emitted over time. This release of luminescent energy offers a sustainable replacement for some forms of conventional lighting or directional indicators. SFXC GLOW is produced using a phosphor called Strontium Aluminate, which provides a much longer and brighter glow than previous materials and is not radioactive, making it a much safer alternative to other materials that glow green.

APPLICATION

The photo luminescent powder can be used to produce glow resin and coatings, which can then be applied to products, projects or installations. Due to the light-emitting nature of this material, it has been used for various applications, some of which include:

The glow effect can be applied to these applications by mixing the glow powder with resins, binders or varnishes. Once thoroughly mixed, the luminescent resin or coating can be poured or coated onto your chosen surface.

MIXING

Can be mixed with screen binders, clear resins, clear varnishes, acrylic paints, oil paints, PVA glue, concrete sealers, enamel paints, solvent-based paints or inks.

The amount of glow pigment needed depends on the medium you are mixing it with. We suggest starting by adding small amounts and slowly adding more if needed. please check what is recommended by the manufacture of the medium, as there will be specific guidelines for mixing and ratios.

We would normally add between 5-8% glow powder to 95-92% medium, such as a resin or a varnish. As a rule, using the highest amount of glow powder possible is always recommended. A higher dose of glow powder will increase the luminosity of the material and the glow time.

A clear/transparent or light-coloured medium is necessary to allow UV light to pass through and activate SFXC GLOW materials. Ideally, the glow mixture should be applied to a white or light background.

We allow orders to be collected in person or by couriers. Minimal or biodegradable shipping materials are used where possible.

IMPORTANT

Please read the TDS and MSDS before use. Please thoroughly test this material before production and application. This material will dissolve if exposed to water, so please only use non-aqueous-based mediums. Please get in touch with us directly if you require a water-treated glow powder, as this can be produced as a custom order. The purple and blue glow powders have considerably lower brightness and glow time than the green and aqua. All information provided is given in good faith, but without warranty.
