Installations — Tate Modern, Turbine Hall, 2018. Members of Tania Bruguera’s team on the heat-sensitive floor made with SFXC thermochromic ink. The pale marks show where body heat has changed the colour. Widely considered the largest thermochromic installation of its kind ever attempted, it required precise calibration to react to body heat while remaining durable enough to withstand over a million visitors.

Research & education

To the edge of space

Students coated clay sculptures with SFXC thermochromic inks set to change at 9°C and 12°C, plus glow inks, and sent them up on a weather balloon with a camera. As the air grew colder, the sculptures changed colour at different altitudes.
