Leather binder is a water-based product which dries clear and can be applied to a variety of leather articles.
This binder can be used on leather bags, shoes, furniture and clothing such as jackets. It is a protective substrate and is suitable on worn or antique leather items. Types of hide or leather compatible with this product include pigmented, waxed and faux leather. However, we do not recommend using on suede.
Layer the binder in thin coats. The leather will darken as the binder is applied. Allow to dry between coats. This can be done efficiently using a hairdryer or similar heat source. File the surface with 1200grit sandpaper to make a smooth finish between layers; ensuring to wipe with a damp cloth each time, so no dust remains. After an initial covering, apply 3 more coats to ensure the finished article is longer lasting. Finally, apply your chosen pigment, ink or coating.
Leather Binder can be used in conjunction with our smart material products to create Thermochromic, Photochromic or Pearlescent coated leather for instance. This binder is also sprayable by using airbrush equipment. A more even finish will result in comparison to just brushing on.
For equestrians…this product is ideal for those wanting to recondition their equipment, or before adding embellishments or altering pieces.
You can use Leather Binder to repair or restore leather items. Apply an initial coat with a sponge and using pressure to work the medium into the material if filling in cracked leather. As above, file the material between each coat. Then do three more layers by just wiping over the surface.

Store this product between 8-30°C. Store away from direct sunlight or heat and store in a cool, dry place.
