Try our beautiful lustrous Pearlescent pigments...
Pearlescent Pigments give off a sheen most reminiscent to natural pearls. It is partially transparent powder created from combining layers of mineral mica with metal oxide –rutile (a natural mica) titanium dioxide. The result is either a soft shimmer or a bright and sparkly appearance, depending on how light is refracted at the different levels of the metal oxides in the pigment. Optical variations also arise due to particle size and the thickness of layers/coatings of the Pearlescent pigment particle.
Unlike natural mica that can have inherent impurities, SFXC Pearlescent pigments contain a synthetic variety, so the particles themselves are flawless in clarity.
SFXC Pearlescent pigments are very concentrated and have a particle size of 10/60µm. This product is very heat stable and has a very good dispersion rate. Thus, it can be used in most mediums e.g. water-based or otherwise, such as solvents.
When using our Glitter Pearlescent pigments, a silver/grey lustre optical effect can be achieved if it is combined with black carbon. A bright silver/white effect can be achieved when mixed with an aluminium paste.
When handling this product into liquid dyes or inks, it is good practice to ensure that the product is mixed well, so a suitable outcome is produced. Pearlescent pigments can be used in translucent resins and plastics such as PS, PP, PE, PVC, acrylic as well as silicones.
Our Pearlescent pigments give a wide window of opportunity for many applications and uses such as:
- Plastic injection moulding
- Printing (gravure, silk screen and flexographic)
- Automotives (due to the pigment being extremely weather-stable)
